My name is Silvia Mamokete Tjaoane, and I come from Bronville in Welkom, Free State. I completed several courses at Thabiso Skills Development Centre, including Office and Business Administration, Basic Computer Skills, and Make-up Artistry. My parents encouraged me to attend Thabiso Skills Development Centre as they heard that the skills courses offered at the centre assisted youth to work with their hands and gain practical skills.
In 2024, I enrolled in the Office and Business Administration course. I enjoyed the course and everything went well. I then registered for the End User Computing Course, which I completed successfully and enjoyed. Since I love beauty and fashion, I decided to pursue my passion by doing a Make-up Artistry course as well. I pushed myself hard to pursue happiness and success, and it paid off – things went very well. Additionally, I am a promoter for Nivea products, which has helped me grow my confidence and reach more people.
I was determined to find a proper job that pays a good salary, and I was fortunate to receive a call from AVBOB, offering me a role as a Financial Advisor. During the week I work at AVBOB and on weekends, I am a self-employed businesswoman, running my makeup studio.
My dream is to inspire young people in my community to believe that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. At Thabiso Skills Development Centre, I have learned to embrace where I come from and to be incredibly proud of myself for where I am heading. I want others to know that with dedication, hard work, and self-belief, you can achieve your goals and create your own success story.
