Student Success Stories

Nthlanhla Dayimani

My name is Nthlanhla Dayimani, and I’m a proud young man from Odendaalsrus, a small town in the Free State, South Africa.

Like many young people in our country, I’ve faced difficult challenges. With South Africa experiencing one of the highest unemployment rates in the world, the uncertainty of the future often weighs heavily on us. It can be overwhelming and, at times deeply discouraging. I too felt the pressure – I was lost, struggling with depression, and worried about how I could support my family, especially my mother, who had raised me on her own.

Everything began to change when I heard about Thabiso Skills Development Centre. In October 2024, I enrolled in the Welding course funded by the CIE with Absa funding. In January 2025, I enrolled in the Plumbing course. These decisions were life-changing.

My experience at Thabiso Skills Development Centre was nothing short of amazing. The combination of theoretical learning and practical training brought the course to life. It wasn’t just about learning from a book – the hands-on experience helped me truly understand the work I wanted to do. I could see my future forming right before my eyes.

The Life Skills Course played a powerful role in transforming how I see myself. It helped me believe in my abilities and replace doubt with confidence. Our facilitator guided us through important life lessons, including how to prepare for job interviews, the value of teamwork, and how to uplift and support each other.

Every facilitator I met at Thabiso was more than just a teacher – they were mentors. They inspired me to be the best version of myself. The facilitators stood out as dedicated, knowledgeable professionals whose guidance made a lasting impact on my journey.

After completing my training, I applied for jobs – and I’m thrilled to share that I was hired by Fouché Loodgieters in Welkom as an Assistant Plumber. This opportunity means so much to me. It allows me to contribute to my family’s well-being and support my mother, who has always given me her all.

Thank you, Thabiso Skills Development Centre and Absa, for believing in young people  like me. Because of your support,  I now have hope, purpose, and the  chance to build a better life.
