Amogelang Moalusi

My name is Amogelang Itumeleng Moalusi. I am a 26 year old male from Odendaalsrus in the Free State. Before I started my journey at Thabiso Skills Development Centre, I was at home, feeling dreadful and unemployed. I spent about a year and a half just sitting at home with no clear plans. During that time, I had to drop out of Flavius Mareka College in Sasolburg because of financial difficulties, especially during the COVID 19 outbreak.

Then I saw a Facebook advertisement about Thabiso Skills Development Centre and I decided to visit the centre to see what courses were offered. I’ve always been an academic person and love studying and working hard to improve myself.

When I visited the centre I saw that Thabiso offers affordable courses that I was interested and I decided to enrol.  I started the Business and Office Administration programme in July 2023. I gained insightful information in Life Skills and Basic Business Skills.

Through my training, I learned how to operate professionally in an office environment. I gained key skills in customer service that are now helping me in my work and daily life.

After graduating from Thabiso, I was able to find my first job within three months. Since December 2023, I’ve been working as a petrol attendant at Puma Energies.

I want to inspire others who want to pursue skills development. I hope that current and future youth at Thabiso will find or create employment after they graduate, just like I did.

Reflecting on my journey, I have had unforgettable moments, experiences I will never forget. They have shaped me and shown me that with determination and the right skills, anything is possible. Thank you to the Thabiso Skills Development Centre staff.
