I am Palesa Sejake and I live in Ventersburg, Free State – a small town with few opportunities. I call Thabiso Skills Development Centre “family” because I have never felt more at home. The staff are friendly and more than willing to help equip us with the necessary skills to advance in life. I started the Nail Technicians course in 2024 with no knowledge of nails from a technician’s point of view, but has always been the client. I remember being the only person in the group who didn’t know what a bead was.
My biggest challenge before embarking on this journey was believing in myself and my ability to start or even run a successful business. This course helped me gain so much background knowledge on everything about nails. My facilitator mentored and motivated me and it gave me confidence to start my own business as soon as I completed.
My business is called Tshimoloho Beauty – “Tshimoloho” means the beginning – and it is named after my beautiful daughter. I view it as the beginning of a lifelong legacy for her.
I am grateful I used the little money I had to bet on myself, and I made the best choice by trusting Thabiso Skills Development Centre. May the centre be blessed for assisting the youth in our community, providing hope to the hopeless.
