My name is Zenani Joel Bacela, and I am proudly from Thabong, Welkom in the Free State, South Africa. I am truly grateful for the journey I have travelled and excited to share my story because it is proof that with determination, learning, and faith, a brighter future is possible.
Before joining Thabiso Skills Development Centre, life was very challenging. Employment opportunities were limited, and I faced financial struggles and uncertainty about my future. I had dreams of improving my life and creating a better future for myself and my family, but I lacked professional training and practical experience. Despite the challenges, I carried a strong desire to grow and succeed.
Everything changed when I realized that education and skills development had the power to transform my life. I understood that I could no longer wait for opportunities to come to me — I needed to create them for myself. That realization became the turning point in my journey. I became motivated to gain practical skills, become independent, and build a future that would not only support me but also positively impact my family and community.
In 2024, I enrolled at Thabiso Skills Development Centre, where I completed courses in Carpentry, Welding, Tiling, Life Skills, and Computer Training. Joining Thabiso became one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I am incredibly thankful to Thabiso Skills Development Centre because it played a major role in shaping my future. The centre provided me with practical training, mentorship, discipline, and life-changing guidance. I had the opportunity to learn from experienced instructors who encouraged me and helped me understand the value of professionalism, communication, teamwork, and hard work. The hands-on experience prepared me for real-world situations and gave me confidence in my abilities.
During my learning journey, I gained valuable skills in carpentry, welding, tiling, computer literacy, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, professional work ethics, discipline, and basic business management. These skills did more than improve my abilities — they transformed my mindset and helped me believe in myself.
Today, I am proud and grateful to be involved in the tourism industry as the owner of BacTraveling-Tours. Through my business, I provide tour guiding services, travel experiences, educational tours, group trips, and tourism-related services across South Africa. I have had the privilege of organizing and participating in various travel projects, helping schools, groups, senior citizens, and tourists experience the beauty and diversity of our country.
My journey has taught me that success is possible regardless of where you come from. I hope my story inspires young people and community members to believe in themselves and never give up. Your background and challenges do not determine your future. With determination, discipline, skills development, and a willingness to learn, anything is possible.
I encourage young people to continue learning, stay focused, and make use of every opportunity that comes their way. I wake up every day motivated and grateful, knowing that I am living proof that skills can change lives and dreams can become reality.
